Reading reflection.

The book that i have chosen to start reading is A million Little Pieces by James Fray. May not have heard of it but James (the auther) says this book was about himself until he went on tv and they exploited him and found out he didnt write the book about himself he wrote about how someone else lived. I have started reading and i am up to page 19, it is a really long and challenging book but i am willing to give it a try because it is interesting and have always wanted to read it. Even though i have only read a little bit i can already tell that it's a heart breaking memoir and it is very inspirational.

"A Million Little Pieces" is about James Frey at just the age of 23 he had destroyed his mind and body almost beyond repair. when he enters the rehabilitation centre to try and restore his life to normal conditions he has to right to determine what his future is going to be. It doesn't help with his lack of self-pity. I am really enjoying this book so far and hope to finish it soon.

Femininity in the Past. Image 3.

Femininity is represented in ways that are despicable, this magazine advertisement says that girls/ladies young or old should try this weight lose supplement because it is filling, quick, easy, and just enough to get you through the day. When you really think about all the negatives by drinking this solution are long term effects (e.g. lack of iron therefore blood shot eyes and black circles under the eyes, liver can shut down if your on this for too long etc.), short term effects (e.g. loss of energy, sleep, brain function, concentration, hydration from fruit and vegetables etc.). What the images are trying to portray are it is easy and quick to make so if your on the run you can just make it and run, it gives a variety (e.g. some people prefer it cold but some don't) which draws peoples attention to it because they know that are people are substituting this for meals so they want to loose weight and give it a try. The attitude that this ad is trying to put across is comn' give it a go and you will loose weight it a click of a finger...but in the long run like i said above their are long term and short term effects. Women these days believe that these types of things work, they might but then there is always side effects. If one society(person or crowd of people) believe that they think this will work then others will try it and they will think its good until they use it for too long.

Empathy Excersise. Number 3. Miranda.

Dear Diary,
It's Miranda here, I have just sent a fax to the New York Post about Andy because she is applying for a job as a writter and i said that if he didn't hire her then he is an idiot. What I meant by this was she is a really good, hard worker who tries to please everyone and anyone. Through out my experience of hiring Andy it has been a pleasent and exciting journey, i say this because she is different to all the other assistants that i have before. I can tell that emily likes her because she stepped up to her standerd basically on the first few days.

Thats All,

Miranda.

How are Women Represented in the Magazine "Cosmopolitan" section "23 Ways to Fake Your Weight.

In Cosmopolitan the article "23 ways to fake your weight" they are saying if you have a special occasion coming up then you have time for a three day panic diet. This sentence shows that women should always look slim and skinny (e.g. size 6 Australian). They say in BIG, BOLD letters that do you want to shave off the kilos pronto? it just takes some clever styling. This clearly draws everbody's attention to the page because every girl wants to be skinny and look like those blonde bimbos on the runway, but obviously that isnt possible without doing all the damage to your body (e.g. not eating for weeks, or barely eating nothing and Excercising like a maniac). It doesn't just take some clever styling it takes more than that...like body punishing things like i said in brackets not eating and excercising. It takes a little more than just some clever styling scheme, it is more like hey try the anoxia or belimic diet it works, Cosmopolitan might as well right how to become anerexic and belimic on the front page and when girls see that they won't want to do this 23 ways to fake your weight because they will know the damage that it is doing to there bodies. Where as if they just do what they did and right 23 ways to fake your weight it just sounds like 23 weighs to drop some weight but it is completley different to that and damages all young and old bodies of women. People always want to look just that little bit skinnier in their dresses even if they don't admit it and step 6 shows what to wear to hide whats underneath, But if people choose to try and look skinny by covering up its a waste of time because people love you for who you are and not who your trying to be.

How are Women Represented in "Gold Digger"?

In the film clip Gold Digger by Kanye West there is parts that are disrepectful towards women for example white women were disrepected in " but when you get on he leases your ass for a white girl" (verse 3). The lyrics represent and expect them without knowing them to be liars , cheaters and prostitutes just because of a few women in the film clip are dressed the way they dressed (with barely any clothing). kanye does not really fit in with the whole scenery because he is wearing a suit for most of it and jeans and a t-shirt and the women are wearing barely nothing.
