Shake Spears Life

Where and Was he born?

William Shakespeare was said to have been born in the Shakespeare family home in Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, England. His date of birth cannot be substantiated as that time in England births were not formally recorded and they did not have Birth Certificates. His birth date can be guessed due to the fact there was high mortality rate of infants. The birthday of William Shakespeare has been set as April 23rd 1564.

His Family?

William Shakespeare was the third child of John and Mary - the two previous children, Joan and Margaret, died from the Bubonic Plague (also known as the Black Death). The father of John Shakespeare (Williams Dad’s Dad) was a retailer of farm produce, such as animal hides, and the family were therefore in constant danger of contracting the Bubonic Plague via the farm products. Its not surprising that the nature of the disease resulted in frequent outbreaks of the terrible disease and that the two sisters of Shakespeare died in their infancy, one was eight years old and one of his brothers was 27 years old (all victims of the plague).

When he died and where he died?

Was not surprising that William Shakespeare suffered from a terrible fear of the Plague throughout his life. He was surely enough to get the plague because most of his family died from it. His own son (Hamnet) died at a young age, he was just eleven years old and died from the plague as well. William died on 23 April 1616, this was said to be his fifty-second birthday. William was buried in Stratford at the same church, at the same place he was baptised.

His Wife?

Anne Hathaway was the wife of William Shakespeare. They were married in 1582 and Hathaway was widowed on Shakespeare's death in 1616. Not much is known about her, beyond a few references in legal documents. Anne Hathaway has been led to believe that she had grown up in Shottery, a small village just west of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. She is assumed to have grown up in the farmhouse that was the Hathaway family home. Her father, Richard Hathaway, was a yeoman farmer. He died in September 1581. Hathaway married Shakespeare in November 1582 while she was pregnant with their first child, to whom she gave birth six months later. Hathaway was 26 years of age; Shakespeare was only eighteen. This age difference, together with Hathaway's antenuptial pregnancy, has been employed by some historians as evidence that it was a "shotgun wedding", forced on a reluctant Shakespeare by the Hathaway family.
